Wairoa’s Ned George and his dog Fred finished runners-up in the zig zag hunt final at the South Island dog trial championships.
The champs have been running this week at Meadowbank in Blenheim.
The duo scored 99.5 points in their qualifying run to make the Event 3 final, then scored 97.5 in the run-off.
Whatatutu’s Allen Irwin and Joss also made the final with a score of 97.75 in qualifying, but fell away in the final to finish fifth.
Tolaga Bay’s Leo Edginton and Sheildzy made the top seven final in Event 4, the straight hunt, with a qualifying score of 97.10. They finished sixth in the final with a run-off score of 94.
The Event 1 and 2 finals were held yesterday.
