1 min read

The Tairāwhiti Multicultural Council (TMC) are delighted to announce the opening of a hub on the main street.

The Multicultural Hub will provide a welcoming space for migrant and ethnic communities to connect, share experiences and access support services.

The convenient drop-in centre, centrally located at 261 Gladstone Road near Derby Street, will be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 12 noon to provide for individuals seeking information, assistance or a friendly social environment.

The focus of the hub is to foster inclusivity and cultural exchange and to promote understanding and solidarity among the diverse communities living in Tairāwhiti.

The facility will also be available for bookings by community groups for meetings and functions.

The Multicultural Hub is committed to providing access to the facility at low or no cost to ensure it remains accessible to all community members.

“Already, several groups have expressed interest in holding their annual general meetings at the hub and hosting cultural events and activities,” TMC president Arish Naresh said.

“We are thrilled by the positive response and hope that this facility will be utilised to its maximum potential to facilitate meaningful connections and collaborations within our community.

“The Tairāwhiti Multicultural Council extends our gratitude to all those who have supported the establishment of the Multicultural Hub and we look forward to welcoming members of the community.”
