Covid deaths in Tairāwhiti at 39

Tairāwhiti has 20 active cases of Covid-19, according to latest figures from Te Whatu Ora.

Up to midnight Sunday, Tairāwhiti had recorded 39 deaths and a total of 25,301 cases.

Equivalent figures for New Zealand were 3566 active cases, 3376 total deaths and 2,474,005 total cases since the pandemic began.

As at midnight on Sunday,  230 Kiwis were in hospital with Covid and another four in ICU.

Te Whatu Otra has reported 23 deaths — one from Northland, five from Auckland region, one from Waikato, one from Bay of Plenty, one from Hawke’s Bay, three from Mid Central, two from Wellington, one from Nelson Marlborough, five from Canterbury, one from West Coast and two from Southern.

Three were in their 30s, one was in their 60s, six were in their 70s, seven were in their 80s and six were aged over 90.

Of these people, 12 were women and 11 were men.
