Celebrating World Tai Chi Day tomorrow

1 min read

This Saturday is World Tai Chi/Qigong Day and local instructor Walter ‘Wiz’ Walsh invites interested members of the public to join him for a free session of the ancient Chinese practice on the grass in front of the Lawson Field Theatre from 10am-11am that day.

The event was first held in 1998 in Kansas City, Missouri, and aims to educate people about the health benefits of tai chi and Qigong.

Hundreds of cities in more than 80 countries take part in World Tai Chi Day, held on the last Saturday of April each year.

“This will be the first time it has been staged in Gisborne,” Wiz said.

He is a registered and qualified tai chi instructor, registered with the world federation, and has been teaching it here for five years.
