Tall Blacks coach in town
TALL Blacks head coach Pero Cameron will host a coaches' session tonight in Gisborne.
The evening is open to coaches from all codes, with the talk on building team culture rather than fostering individual talent.
Cameron captained the New Zealand Tall Blacks from 2000-2010, and won a silver Commonwealth Games medal before retiring from playing in 2010.
As a coach, he won NZNBL coach of the year in his first year and became the assistant coach to the Tall Blacks in 2011.
In 2019, Cameron was named Tall Blacks head coach and recently re-signed a three-year extension to his contract.
Cameron is in Gisborne for the next three days, starting his trip with Tall Fern Lauryn Hippolite as they open six new basketball hoops in the region as part of Basketball New Zealand's Hoops in Schools program in association with Turanga Health.
He will then host skills sessions with local schools on Friday and will be out in the community visiting Covid-19 clinics on Saturday.
Registrations are required for the coaches' session and can be made through Gisborne Basketball Association's Facebook page.
