No matches being played

No rugby will be played again this weekend with all games nationwide either cancelled or postponed.

After the extension of the country's lockdown, it remains unclear when games will resume.

No decision has been made about how the Heartland competition will operate as the country goes into lower alert levels.

Poverty Bay have been unable to meet as a team, with players instead having to focus on maintaining their personal fitness.

Head coach Tom Cairns said the squad had been split into four mini-teams that had been competing in challenges over lockdown.

Last week it was to see which team could log the most kilometres running and cycling, with the distance on the bike halved.

“It's unfortunate timing, right at the start of Heartland,” Cairns said.

“We were ready to go.”
