A series of power outages, starting today, are part of a major reconductoring project in the Back Ormond Road/Cameron Road/Hansen Road area.
Over four days, Eastland Network and its contractors will instal new wires along a 1.7km route.
Power will need to be switched off to households in the area today and then next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Customers have been notified of the planned outages by their retailers. Full details of the outage times and locations are also available at www.eastland.nz/eastland-network/outages/
“This is one of the biggest urban reconductoring projects we've undertaken for quite some time,” said Eastland Network general manager Jarred Moroney.
The work would contribute to strengthening and further improving the resilience of the region's electricity network, he said. It would also support and help enable new residential development in this part of Gisborne.
“I'd like to thank people in the area for their patience and understanding while we complete this important project.”
