Police happy with compliance in Alert Level 2
POLICE did a range of checks at off- and on-licence liquor premises around the district over the weekend and were pleased with what they encountered.
The checks were around the Covid-19 Alert Level 2 requirements for bars, clubs and restaurants.
“Other than a couple of proprietors who were not sure of the rules, the compliance was really good,” said area police commander Inspector Sam Aberahama.
“For those proprietors who were not sure what was required, we made sure they had the right knowledge going forward.”
Under Level 2, gathering size in places like on-and off-licensed premise must be limited to 50 people indoors and 100 outdoors, mask-wearing remains mandatory except when eating and drinking, and there are social distancing requirements.
