More rain on the East Coast overnight
THE northern parts of the East Coast received another sizeable dumping of rain last night.
The Raparapariki Stream rain gauge near Ruatoria recorded 64 millimetres of rainfal — 200mm recorded there in the past seven days.
The Waikura Valley readings this morning showed 59mm of rain in the past 24 hours, with 190mm in the past week.
In other high readings, Pakihiroa picked up another 39mm overnight for 144mm in the past seven days.
There was 53mm recorded at the Poroporo River rain gauge overnight — 138mm in the past week.
Other sites show 33mm overnight and 97mm in the week at Arowhana, 29mm and 92mm at Puketoro, 26mm and 86mm at the East Cape Lighthouse, 30mm and 108mm at the Karakatuwhero River site on State Highway 35, and 24mm and 94mm at Raukumara.
In contrast, Gisborne Airport's reading overnight was just 4mm and the weekly total was just over 10mm.
