Board’s thoughts go out to families of loved ones
Hauora Tairawhiti district health board has acknowledged the deaths of a staff member and a young teenager.
In opening the board meeting yesterday, DHB chair Kim Ngarimu spoke of former staff member Nicholette Pomana, who died on July 4 aged 59.
“I know it's been a very hard time for her family and our staff here,” Ngarimu said.
Nicholette was a senior portfolio manager at Hauora Tairawhiti.
Ms Ngarimu also spoke of Willow Stone, 14, who died on Thursday following a bicycle collision.
“To the young tamahine who lost her life here last week.
“I know many staff in the hospital were involved in trying to save her and that it was a very difficult time.
“I would like to send our thoughts to her family and friends and also to our staff who I know it was a very difficult time for.”
