Sound hitch, but local acts through to final in 5 Minutes of Fame
A technical glitch marred last night's showing of Maori Television's 5 Minutes of Fame but that didn't stop both Gisborne acts, the Amazing Graces and the Lei Lows making it into the finals.
The unfortunate hitch threw the sound out of sync with the visuals, but when viewed on demand and through the app, it was insync.
“We really feel for the contestants and all the families,” specialist media adviser Kirk MacGibbon said.
To make up for the error Maori Television has rescheduled the show to replay twice over the next week.
It will screen at 7pm tonight and again at 7pm next Thursday before the grand final.
Regardless, Gisborne has two teams still in the competition.
Last night the 16 contestants sang their hearts out in the knockout round which cut the field in half to eight for the final.
The winning song for the Amazing Graces was Those Magic Changes by Sha Na Na and Lei Lows sang Getting Stronger by Adeaze featuring Aaradhna.
The competition has two contestants compete against each other in one of four categories per episode. The categories are teen, female, male and group.
In the final, eight contestants will compete head-to-head before the top four face off in song in a bid to win the overall title.
The category winners and overall title winner will share a prize pool of $15,000.
The final airs next Thursday night from 9pm-11pm on Maori Television.
