Transformer fire cuts power at Dunblane
Firefighters were called to the Dunblane Lifecare & Village complex in Rutene Road on Saturday night after a fire started in a transformer box.
The incident happened at around 6.30pm. “The fire crew stood by until Eastland Network faults staff arrived to isolate the power to the transformer,” a senior firefighter said.
“Once that was done we used a Co2 extinguisher to douse the fire, then used a hose reel to cool down the transformer box.”
An Eastland network spokesperson said around 50 customers lost power.
“Everyone had their power back on by just after 10pm, with a generator used to keep the power on at Dunblane.
“The cause of the issue is being investigated and a replacement transformer will be installed later tonight.”
