Gisborne Mandarin teachers stuck in China
At least five schools in Tairawhiti have had to cancel their Mandarin language lessons, as the teachers are stuck in China because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Waikirikiri School principal Yolanda Julies said the schools all shared the same two Mandarin Language assistants (MLA), which meant they each had them for one day a week.
“We get two new MLAs each year which means we didn't get to meet them yet, and it is unlikely they will be in our schools soon.”
Gisborne Girls' High School Chinese language classes have been cancelled until further notice.
