Summer smoothies

Start your morning off right with these sensational summer smoothies. These recipes are full of nutrient-rich fruit and vegetables, plus protein-filled yoghurt and milk for an energy boost that will keep you going until lunch. Check out these healthy smoothie recipes that will be ready in just a few minutes or less . . .

Tamarillo and Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

Flesh of 4 ripe tamarillos

1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries

1 cup natural yoghurt

3 teaspoons honey

⅓ cup milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Add all the smoothie ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and enjoy.

Serves: 2

Preparation: 3 minutes

Grapefruit Smoothie

Ingredients

1 grapefruit, peeled

1 banana

1 teaspoon grated ginger

⅓ cup Greek yoghurt

2 tablespoons honey

1½ cups oat milk (or milk of choice)

Toppings (optional)

Honey

Coconut chips

Granola

Method

Blend all ingredients together until smooth and pour into two glasses

Serve cold with toppings of choice.

Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

1 cup low-fat vanilla ice cream

1 cup blueberries

1 banana

½ cup unsweetened pineapple juice

¼ cup low-fat vanilla yoghurt

Method

Place all ingredients in blender.

Cover and blend until smooth, about 30-45 seconds. Pour into glasses and enjoy.

Serves: 2

Strawberry and Coconut Smoothie

Ingredients

1 cup strawberries, hulled

1 banana, peeled

1 cup ice

2 cups coconut milk (or milk of your choice)

¼ cup coconut chips

2 tablespoons honey

Method

Place all ingredients except coconut chips into a blender and blend until smooth

Pour into 2 cups and top with coconut chips and honey if desired.

Serves: 2
