Musings on imperfections of democracy as a system
Wouldn’t it be nice if the world was
fair
Imagine if all got an even share
No nastiness or sinful stuff
If everyone, all got enough
If status was what you couldn’t
have
As Kiwis say – “fair suck of the sav”
If people were straight in what they
said
If folks around the world got fed
If a fair day’s work, got a fair day’s
pay
Everyone means just what they say
No one’s dishonest, or slightly
devious
Or holds a grudge, from matters
previous
No public pose, a moral defender
While working to a secret agenda
Everyone will do their best
And none will feather up their nest
An alternate opinion, you hold dear
Could be expressed without any
fear
If people dealt with true respect
If race, religion, gender, had no
effect
Support the luckless, the halt, the
frail
If the Golden Rule was our holy
grail
Normal traits would be honesty
and trust
No more problems from sexual lust
But we’re far from floating in that
boat
The best we’ve got’s “one man one
vote”
(My apologies about male gender
But I had to get the scan to render)
If you’re unhappy and must
complain
Try the life in far Ukraine.
