Glyphosate residues in honey is having a major impact by reducing accessibility to high-value export markets.
Maybe it's time for MPI to investigate alternative chemical treatments for horticultural and agricultural use? GDC's uncontrolled roadside spraying is also a big issue — with its contractors having been observed spraying in windy conditions with significant drift, and impact on non-targeted species.
In a region where we are fortunate to have both farmed and wild manuka generating potentially high-value honey, we all need to take a responsible approach to the use of herbicides.
