Farm staff urged to get vaccinated
Turanga Health chief executive Rewiti Ropiha said that the rural vaccination clinics continue to go well.
As at the end of last Tuesday, 733 rural people had received a Covid vaccination.
Reweti said this was commendable and credited his rural vaccination team with these statistics as a result of long hours on the road coupled with their dedicated work.
“The immediate change to vaccinating 30 year olds and over, plus children between the age of 12 and 15, will mean a bigger demand over the next few months.
“It is hoped that farmers will encourage their staff to take advantage of the rural clinic in their district and avoid the long trip to town and back.”
Lockdown Alert Level 4 has meant a slowing down of throughput at the rural clinics because of restrictions such as social distancing plus stringent cleaning of the vaccination clinic between patients.
