Wisewool opens home insulation wing
GISBORNE company Wisewool, a division of Allwool Ltd, is now open for business in the home insulation area.
The company's ‘Wisewool' insulation product fits perfectly into anywhere that has a ceiling cavity large enough for a person to get in to.
“For new and existing dwellings, we can be in and out of the worksite within three hours, said All Wool operations manager Angus Hansen.
“It is an extremely efficient way of insulating, and one which the builders (on new builds) we have worked with thus far have loved. The ceiling can be installed with beautiful, warm, sound absorbing, fire retardant Wisewool product, where the raw wool has been received by us right here in Gizzy,” Angus said.
“It's been scoured, mothproofed and deodorised, and then processed through our new instore carding machine to produce our insulation product.
“This carding machine is run in a particular way that turns the wool in to tightly-knit balls rather than cards, “ he said.
The company has been working on putting the product into the walls of new builds. “We hope to be able to do this in the near future. Our Wisewool balls are not ideally suitable for installation in walls due to the NZ building code's requirements for dwangs,” Angus said.
“We are looking into developing batts that are 100 percent natural, made from wool sourced on the East Coast. I See huge potential in this particular area, and one that could really shake up the market.”
