Demand down for feeder calves

PRICES fell slightly yesterday for

the store lambs at the weekly Matawhero sheep sale.

There were 1569 sheep and 40 feeder calves yarded.

DA and CM Redpath at Matawai continued to top the store lamb market, their pen of 98 ewe lambs selling for $170.

Orere Station at Pehiri were paid $169 for 44 mixed-sex lambs.

Stuart Gray from Patutahi sold five heavy prime ewes for $200 and Reginald Proffit received $220 for

six huge black-face prime lambs.

Bracken Enterprises at Matawai

were paid $176 for a pen of 25 ewes, scanned as late lambing.

There was limited demand for the 40 feeder calves, with Colin Kerr at Ngatapa receiving the best price of $210 for four Hereford X Friesian bull calves.
