Store lamb average rises again

THE average price paid for store lambs continued to rise yesterday at the weekly Matawhero saleyards, up to $129 from $124 the previous week.

There were 1243 sheep yarded, down 600 from last week.

The lowest price paid in the prime pens was $153 for seven medium sized lambs. Brett Bayley at Te Wera sold 17 heavy prime ewes for $178, while $175 was paid for seven prime lambs.

Haha Station at Rangitukia topped the store male lambs — $160 was paid for 17.

The best price for store ewe lambs was $149 for a pen of 19 from LMJ P/S at Ruatoria. This vendor received the best price of $166 for 77 store mixed-aged ewes. These well-presented ewes had been mated with the ram on March 15.
