Store price lifted in solid sale

STORE lamb prices lifted by $9 per head to $124 at yesterday’s Matawhero sheep sale and many of these were smaller, longer term, ewe lambs.

There were 1851 sheep sent for sale, including 370 scanned-in-lamb ewes. R and K Hayes sold 8 heavy prime ewes for $182 and B D and R A Law received $178 for 2 prime lambs.

I F and J A Storey at Motu were paid the best price of $154 for their 51 store male lambs.

Papatu Station at Manutuke topped the sale for store ewe lambs, receiving $145 for their pen of 85.

Mangaheia Station at Tolaga Bay sold 2 pens of mixed aged ewes, scanned-in-lamb at 185 percent, their best line selling for $190. This pen had been mated to a terminal sire from February 10.
