Organics in the spotlight at local hui
The Ministry for Primary Industries has begun a series of workshops and hui to discuss the proposals for organic regulations and the national organic standard set out in the Organic Products Bill.
This has been described as a critical time for the organics sector.
One such hui will be held in Gisborne later this month.
In addition, Horticulture NZ and MPI are carrying out a survey to better understand what matters to the organisation's members and the wider horticulture industry, both now and in the future.
“It is imperative that Organics Aotearoa New Zealand members and sector producers attend their regional meetings and hui so we can have our collective voices heard,” an industry spokesman said.
“The workshops and hui will cover the same content — both discuss the proposals for organic regulations and the national organic standards.
“MPI are inviting members of local iwi and hapu in these locations to the hui to wananga with them in a way that incorporates tikanga Maori,” the spokesman said.
