Straker Translations growth adding flavour here
Auckland-based Straker Translations will be looking to up its Gisborne presence, after the ASX-listed company raised A$20 million in new equity.
A company statement said it would go towards implementing “growth strategies” and chief executive Grant Straker said its Gisborne plans would be part of that.
“We will be growing our technology team and we are currently looking at a bigger office in Gisborne to accommodate the team growth,” he told The Herald.
Straker offers a cloud-enabled, global translation service, with its multi-lingual and web-based platform enabling human translators to deliver quick, accurate translations.
The company opened its Gisborne office on Gladstone Road in 2018 and Mr Straker said it had progressed well here.
“We have around 20 staff at the moment.
“The future looks very good,” he said.
Staff could be working on leading edge technology with global partners like IBM, “then going for a surf”.
“We have one Korean team member whose partner is a chef and they have just opened a Korean takeaway in Gisborne to bring some international flavour to the East Coast . . . by all accounts it has been very busy.”
