More than 15 unique aircraft made a recent visit to the Ruatoria Aerodrome as the Tiger Moth Club of New Zealand flew into the airfield. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the club embarked upon a nationwide flight which included landing in Ruatoria and Te Araroa for the first time. On March 21, Ruatoria Aeroclub will commemorate its 60th anniversary and aviation enthusiasts from around the country will once again converge on the aerodrome. A prize giving will honour aviation heroes from the East Coast alongside displays and demonsttions from the New Zealand Police, Fire and Emergency, Defence Force and the Tairawhiti Trust rescue Helicopter service. Visiting aircraft on display will include a Tiger Moth and a Harvard. Minister of Defense Ron Mark will be the guest of honour.
