Strangulation

Re: New transport opportunities, Oct 31 letter.
The problem is that most of the infastructure in this district is run by Eastland Group for the community trust — i.e. the port, which perceives rail as competition . . . and they are well remunerated for their anti-community stance.
I don’t support turning a functional rail carriageway into a pushbike track.
Introduce catamarans? Great, please do, but you may find the port costs crippling. Air is now too expensive, and the rates keep going up. We are being strangled out of our whares.

This is exactly the attitude that will ensure that Gisborne will remain a backwater for the next century.

Please don't let reality stop you inducing all your friends and contacts into "The catamaran project". One thought, though, what have you got that Kiwi Rail hasn't?
