Mall should be an asset for Kaiti and Gisborne
Re: Tourists attacked and robbed, Oct 29 story.

This is shocking. What kind of place is Gisborne for a visitor if you get attacked while you do your laundry? At 6pm no less, when it’s still light outside.

That it happened at Kaiti Mall is not such a surprise. This mall is an embarrassment to Gisborne, it is so run-down. It’s the last place you would stop with a visitor.

I hope the young woman and her friend who attacked the tourists get community work for what they did. And after they finish apologising to the Canadian ladies, they do their community service in that laundromat.

And please, can the landlords put some of their rental income into improving the state of Kaiti Mall?

Make it an asset. Kaiti/Tamarau are well populated suburbs and there are several hundred more households at Wainui/ Makorori.

Kaiti Mall could be a great place to shop, hang out, listen to live music, eat your fish and chips or have an ice cream on your way up the Coast.

How about it?

DO UP THE MALL

Community work? It was street robbery - should be 2-3 years in jail for that! Agreed, the mall is a prime spot and maybe needs a brand change to lead the renewal.

Those people should be sentenced to jail for what they did. It was embarrassing to read about what happened in my hometown but I agree that the Kaiti Mall should be cleaned up and made better. I'll be down to help by any means necessary.
