More power to authority
Re: A police conduct authority that is truly independent makes sense, Oct 18 editorial.

And now police have been castigated by the Auditor General for not acting promptly to initiate the numerous recommended changes to police culture detailed in the Bazley report.

The credibility of police in the recent Dotcom and Tuhoe affairs further erodes public confidence, leading to the result in the Horizon survey. One may cynically think the Gravitas surveys commissioned by police might be the skewed surveys.

More power to a truly independent authority is definitely needed.
