Take control
The only way I can see now to save this wonderful rail asset is some kind of consortium of interested parties, such as councils along the line, freight operators, rail preservation groups and any other interested parties. I am sure the public will be right behind it.

This useless government and KiwiRail don’t care about retaining this asset for future generations.

Act now Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne before your rail line is lost forever under the weeds that will quickly take control if nothing is done. KiwiRail and the Government will never reopen it, that’s for sure.
