Not enough money here for council to discourage growth
What is wrong with our councillors? The knights of the roundtable should support Gisborne far more, not hide behind the council walls that seem to separate them from common sense.

Instead of putting up carparking fees they should have reduced them to encourage people to stay in the city longer, spending more money in the retail sector.

Surely the parking team could see this, but I understand they had very little input into the decision.

It’s time for a new stream of thought that actually helps Gisborne. Scrap the two-hour parking limit and cut the fees.

Start helping ratepayers instead of taking, taking, taking all the time. This city does not have the money to sustain this sort of thinking that discourages growth.

Gisborne has been going backwards over the past 10 years or so.

It is about time the Mayor led the rest of the council into better and more constructive ideas. They certainly aren’t thinking of the families with young children!

Every time I turn the tap on and drink a glass of water, I realise that the mob running our ratepayers' funds have made some great improvements over the years. But I must say, A. Rickard, you have a very good point in that the leader of any organisation is there to lead, to get people inspired, to gather bright minds from every quarter, to be getting about all over the place on business and getting the feeling of what is going on; to kick doors down and move job-for-lifers on; inspiring people to get on the net and our newspaper to let our ratepayers know what's going on.
Thank you A. Rickard, some good words were said!

Do you agree with a bid to pull bridge jumpers away from unsafe road bridges in the city by building “bombing platforms” for youngsters in safe places along the Turanganui River?
