Silver fern has to become our flag

With the whole world looking on at these Olympics, it really brings home just how we are instantly recognised as a nation.

It is the black flag with the huge silver fern, no doubt about it — and I believe now, more than ever before, that it has to become our national flag. The world knows instantly who we are with the silver fern.

Please get us away from the Australian look-a-like.

I saw a slight variation on one of our team’s attire and it was a silver Southern Cross on one corner and that looked great as well.

Our representatives do it for the silver fern — athletes, All Blacks etc. We all get a bit of a buzz putting on a black T shirt with the fern on our hearts.

So let’s make it official, let’s be who we are. New Zealanders, looking like New Zealanders.
