Pushed by corporates
Thursday, July 19, 2012
Re: Majority support for oil, gas and mineral exploration.
People are supportive because they still live in hope of a recovery based on more jobs. The fact is that there are less and less jobs, and less likelihood that this will ever change because the cost of compliance to state-imposed rules and regulations is making it impossible for anyone except huge corporations to do business.
Oil and gas is being pushed by corporate interests and will do little or nothing for Gisborne locals. It’s the “hope” factor that they are playing on to sway popular opinion.
