Time for our first pyjama flash mob?
To the PJ haters who are being so negative about people like me wearing their PJs to town . . . OMG ! Have you nothing better to whinge about? If you don’t like what we wear, don’t look at us!

I’m not a lazy person. In the past few years I have had some life-changing experiences which have made me realise that if I do not feel like changing out of my jamas to go to the shop, then I’m allowed to feel like that and do it. The world isn’t going to stop turning.

Do you walk everywhere? Grow your own veges? Cook tea every day? I doubt it, yet you call me lazy.

I’d like to know what you consider appropriate attire to wear to town. Do you have a problem if I’m in second-hand clothes? Or my Wonder Woman suit?

And Hiraina, I wear my jamas out sometimes but I’m not doing drugs, I’m involved with tamariki across various ages in education and in sports, I have a Bachelor degree and also have a physical disability. I’m offended at your judgement that because I might wear my jamas outside my whare, I am setting a bad example to our tamariki. Why? Because I’m in my PJ s? OMG!

To all you PJ lovers, let’s organise a day when we all turn up in the main street of Gizzy in our jamas. Imagine that!

Let’s give them something to talk about, is what I say, because . . .

I LOVE MY PJs

Actually, yes, you would be setting a bad example for our tamariki by wearing PJs downtown. You see, the majority of the children in Gisborne go to public schools which require them to be clean and dressed tidy and appropriately. If a child is found wearing their PJs at school, the parent of that child is contacted and warned. Yet the child could have learned this bad habit from seeing adults like you in PJs downtown.
Also, the colleges require students to be in appropriate attire/uniform. Don't you think it's hypocritical to wear PJs at public places, when our children are being taught otherwise in schools?
Come on now, wake up.

Yes, well, as I said I'd come even though I dont wear PJs full stop, lol, and yes there are more important things going on right now than people walking the streets in there PJs. I'd be more worried about people walking the streets with knives and bats and guns and spray cans than PJs, and our tamariki along with their whanau on the East Coast are thinking about drilling and mining and fracking of the lands and water of their tipuna - where people wear their PJs is the last thing on their minds.

You're right, Terry. However, how can we begin to show respect to the environment and to others if we don't respect ourselves? This has nothing to do with greed and a big ego, this has everything to do with self respect. You can't possibly begin to heal the land and one another if you aren't healed yourself. PS - my comment above was in response to the outrageous 'I LOVE MY PJS'.

Do you agree with a bid to pull bridge jumpers away from unsafe road bridges in the city by building “bombing platforms” for youngsters in safe places along the Turanganui River?
