An architectural ‘watershed’
Yesterday morning I took my jaundiced, non-professional, aged, pale, male “eye” down for a tour of the new SAP (sewage acceptance point) at the harbour. Four thrones, a disabled toilet (hopefully unisex) and a partly-open-to-the-sky design. I imagine the other end is for cleaners’ storage etc. Hard to say, as signage, or lack of it, seems to be part of the minimalist approach.
The aesthetic blending of natural materials with the environment was of the cutting edge genre. The blurring of the hard lines was quintessential and something of an architectural “watershed”, I thought, if I may use that term. All this in tasteful, rustable steel and concrete block rendering.
