Fix vacant state houses first
Interesting article on a “State house spruce up” by Kainga Ora (January 4), investing $1.4 million on fences, painting etc . . . while P-infected state houses remain empty all over Gisborne.
The logical thing would be to do up these solid state houses first, don't you think?
So many families are in emergency housing also, some placed in motels (not Winz motels) — and who's paying the rent?
A friend and her three children have been “living” like this for seven months. Is that really emergency housing? Motels would be crazy to turn down a deal like this — hence there is now limited accommodation available for our tourists.
So, Kainga Ora, step up and sort your immediate problem out before cosmetic concreting of driveways and painting of houses. Get families in homes!
