MERCANTILE badminton restarted in Gisborne last Wednesday when eight teams took the court for BIZminton 5.
Enthusiasm and laughter were to the fore as players tried to remember how to hit the shuttle after a four-month break from competition.
The closest tie of the night was between Slammers and Stanley Family.
After two matches, Stanley Family were ahead 2-0, but Slammers fought back to 2-2. Stanley Family went ahead again but Slammers drew level, 3-3, in the last match. Slammers won the tie on countback by three points, 142-139.
Gisborne District Council join the competition next week.
