Following positive leads into robbery
THE investigation into yesterday's robbery of the Hospital Store in Ormond Road continues and while no arrests have been made so far police said they have positive lines of enquiry.
Three male Maori entered the shop shortly after 8am yesterday morning, threatened the proprietor and made off with the shop's till and cigarettes. The vehicle they used, a silver-coloured Mazda Familia was found abandoned in Grundy Street in Riverdale later in the morning.
It had been stolen from Napier on Sunday night.
“We believe the offenders are local men, aged 18-22, and we are following positive lines of inquiry,” said Detective Sergeant Eric Hunter.
“We are investigating several other offences possibly committed by them as well recently.”
Det Sgt Hunter said viewing CCTV footage in the shop had assisted them with their investigation.
