East Coast road trip ‘the perfect holiday’

The Murray family from Tauranga say the East Cape is “so beautiful” after road-tripping around the region in a motorhome.

Steve, Bayleigh, Xara and Carlene Murray started travelling from Tauranga to the East Cape on January 3.

They got to Tolaga Bay yesterday and set up camp at the Tolaga Bay campgrounds where they took the time to relax, sunbathe and eat some good old cheese and crackers.

They have loved their trip around the East Coast.

They have stopped off at each town along the way and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing summer vibes each spot has provided.

Steve and Carlene are pastors at Lifezone Church in Tauranga.

Last year Carlene, Bayleigh and Xara did this trip without Steve as he was in India.

They decided that since they were all together this festive season they would do the trip again.

Steve last came to Gisborne over two decades ago. He always wanted to come back.

“This holiday has been perfect,” he said.

One of the biggest highlights for the family was staying by the beach in Te Kaha and watching the sunsets and sunrises.

“The water was so nice,” said Bayleigh. “It was even a little bit warm.”
