Call-outs to fence on fire, fallen tree
Gisborne firefighters last night dealt with a tree down over State Highway 35 and a fence fire at a property in the city.
At around 8.15pm they went to a house in Te Hapara after a cooking fire burned too close to a fence, setting it alight.
“The property owner had put it out by the time we arrived,” a senior firefighter said.
At 9pm they were called to State Highway 35 at Whangara where a large tree had fallen across the road.
“It had fallen across both lanes and we used a chainsaw to cut it up and clear the road.”
The blockage did not cause much of a traffic build-up.
