Injured surfer still stable

The surfer who suffered a neck injury at Wainui Beach on Wednesday afternoon remains in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital.

The 32-year-old was flown from the beach by the Trust Tairawhiti Rescue Helicopter directly to the Auckland hospital after he was dumped by a large wave.

Paramedics and other medical staff who tended to him at the time described the extent of his injury as status 3 — moderate.

Did this bloke, who is old enough to know better, not heed the Level 4 rules to not go swimming, diving, surfing? He is lucky he was rescued and flown to hospital by the Rescue Helicopter. Karma got him, silly man. Also selfish. Stay home people and do the right thing. WE CAN DO THIS!!
