Rua Bioscience community hui series starts today
Rua Bioscience has announced its first round of community hui for 2020, spanning five locations across the length of the East Coast.
Notice of the hui comes two weeks after the cannabis company announced the appointment of a new chief executive — Rob Mitchell — and co-founder Manu Caddie's transition to kaihautu (innovation and regulation).
Hui will be held in Te Araroa, Ruatoria, Tokomaru Bay, Gisborne and Tolaga Bay.
Mr Mitchell, Mr Caddie and director and co-founder Panapa Ehau will attend each hui.
“We will be giving an update on the state of the business and be on hand to answer any questions, it is a good chance to get out and meet everyone over the coming weeks and for the community to meet me too,” Mr Mitchell said.
“I am looking forward to working with this great team at Rua Bioscience and helping the business realise its commercial potential and social vision.”
The New Zealand Medicinal Cannabis Scheme, announced late December 2019, takes effect on April 1 and will allow licensed medicinal cannabis companies to operate commercially.
Rua Bioscience has spent the past 12 months making sure they are match-fit at the starting line for when New Zealand's regulatory landscape takes shape.
Notable changes have included a rebrand from Hikurangi Cannabis Company, the announcement of a new board of directors in October 2019 and Mr Mitchell's appointment.
