Hurt in head-on crash at Tuai

A woman was flown to hospital in a Hawke's Bay-based rescue helicopter yesterday morning after two vehicles collided on the Lake Waikaremoana Road at Tuai near the Waihi Road turnoff.

An emergency services spokesman said a van and an SUV collided head-on.

He said some tourists were involved in the mishap.

A woman from one of the vehicles suffered moderate injuries and was flown to hospital in Hastings.

■ Emergency services in Gisborne were called to a two vehicle crash in Customhouse Street at around 10am yesterday morning.

A ute collided with a parked commerical van opposite the Bay View apartment building.

“The female driver of the ute was examined at the scene by St John officers and then taken to hospital by ambulance,” a senior firefighter said.
