Child hurt when quad bike rolls

ST John ambulance officers checked out two youngsters injured in a quad bike accident on a farm near Ruatoria yesterday afternoon.

One of the children, aged five, had sustained some minor injuries.

The bike the boys were riding flipped over in a paddock on the property early in the afternoon.

The Trust Tairawhiti rescue helicopter was also sent to the scene and they flew a five-year-old boy to Gisborne Hospital for a check up.

“He had some minor leg injuries,” an ambulance spokesman said.

The child was admitted to hospital overnight for observation.

A hospital spokeswoman said he was discharged this morning.
