Log truck driver escapes injury in crash
TRUCK ROLLS NEAR TOKO: A driver escaped without significant injury when a loaded log truck rolled on State Highway 35 yesterday afternoon south of Tokomaru Bay. The crash happened at around 3.10pm about five kilometres south of the bay. “The rig blocked about three-quarters of the highway,” an emergency services spokesman said. Firefighters from Tokomaru Bay checked the driver for injuries and directed traffic at the crash site. Firefighters and St John ambulance from Gisborne were called out but were recalled. Gisborne Hi-Abs workers are pictured moving the truck.
