Gisborne’s Hamish Cheetham had the winning entry at the Poverty Bay Horticulture Society’s Summer Show. Mr Cheetham won the Champion Rose Caughey Cup for his rose entry of a small stem of the hybrid tea rose Reflections.
Mr Cheetham was also presented with a bronze medal from the National Rose Society for a second entry.
Wendy Davies, also from Gisborne, won the Champion Iris award, with her entry of Waimate Royal and Champion Non-Bearded with Spuria Seedling.
The event took place over the weekend at the Farmers Air Gisborne Event Centre.
