Rebekah Raihania was also at Parliament last week

A Hawke’s Bay girl with strong family links to the East Coast was also among the Youth MPs to address Parliament last week.

Rebekah Raihania (pictured), who attends Wellington Girls’ College, was Ikaroa-Rawhiti MP Meka Whaitiri’s youth MP at the three-day Youth Parliament.

The MP said she chose Rebekah as her electorate youth parliamentarian because she was an outstanding young woman.

“She is passionate about the environment and passionate about youth issues such as suicide.” C Company veteran and last president of 28 Maori Battalion Association, the late Noel Raihania, was Rebekah’s great uncle. Picture supplied
