Trio and boat towed to safety off Midway Beach
The Lion Foundation Coastguard boat towed a disabled runabout with three people on board back to the harbour yesterday after it broke down off Midway Beach.
The rescue craft was called out at about 5pm.
“Surf lifeguards from Midway had gone out to support them until we arrived,” said Coastguard skipper Mike Schultz.
“We took their 14-foot fibreglass boat in tow and returned them safely to the port.
“The trio — two men and a woman — were all wearing lifejackets.”
