Good Samaritans in Wairoa

Letter

I would like to thank the three young ladies who were heading south in their van from Wairoa just before midnight on Wednesday who stopped to pick my family and I up from the side of the road, where we were stranded after our car broke down. They took the situation in hand. They reversed course and took us back to Wairoa to find motel accommodation.

No room at the inn! Two charming young policewomen took up the challenge, arranged for the car to be towed to the Toyota garage and gave us a very welcome cup of tea. Nothing for it but to spend the night in the car.

In the morning, a nice cup of tea at Chris Joblin Motors, a courtesy car and a safe return home.

A big thank you to all those involved in rescuing us when our prospects seemed bleak.
