Taking the proverbial . . .
Long-suffering machine operators working in our local log yards have had trouble accessing basic human necessities.
After taking six years to get one 'Portaloo' up in the flash Levels log yard in the past, workers at the rural Dunstan Road log yard have recently had their toilet and smoko room facilities made off-limits, apparently due to the cost.
Now people who work in the yard and deliver logs have been told to 'Go down the road to another yard to attend to their needs'.
They work 12-hour shifts with only one break in this time.
Eastland Port is one of the busiest ports in the country for shipping logs. Is this the way they thank their workers?
ISO and Eastland Port, your workers are human beings.
