Joel Henare triumphs in Otago again
GISBORNE woolhandling icon Joel Henare was back in the winners' circle again last Saturday at the Otago Shearing and Woolhandling championships, where he took out the open title.
Henare scored an impressive 76.456 points to outgun one of his long-term rivals Pagan Karauria from Alexandra who scored 90.12.
At the same event, Gisborne's Tramon Campbell finished second in the senior woolhandling.
Previously Campbell won the senior final with a score of 80.13 points at the Aria Waitangi Day sports in the Waikato, and Gisborne's Lucas Broughton was third there on 125.78.
At the Te Puke A&P Show, Ryka Swann from Wairoa finished third in the junior shears.
