Highlighting native flora in photo comp
WOMEN'S Native Tree Project Trust (WNTPT) has started a photo competition to highlight and celebrate the native flora in Tairawhiti.
“Now is a great time to go into the shade of Tairawhiti ngahere (bush) and discover the world of our native flowers, seeds, fruits, vines, little and giant trees,” WNTPT nursery manager Kauri Forno said
“We are looking forward to seeing our community celebrate our native trees,” Ms Forno said.
People wanting to take part need to take a photo of native plants and trees between January 15 and February 28.
There are “amazing” prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category.
It is for amateur photographers, three photos per entrant with a maximum of 15mb.
There are three age groups — up to 12 years old, 13 to 18 years, and 19 years plus.
Photos must be posted on the WNTPT Facebook page. Parental guidance required for anyone aged under 13.
Photos need to be taken in the Tairawhiti region. Give details of where the photos were taken and your name and age group.
Winners will be announced on March 6 on the WNTPT Facebook page.
